How Do I Update Cattle Weights In Feedlot Solutions?
If you do not have an Average Daily Gain factor set in your program, the animals will remain at their purchase weight indefinitely. Likewise, the Average Daily Gain factor may not accurately represent the animals progress, and may also not correctly represent the true weight of the animals. To correct this, and allow Feedlot Solutions to accurately reflect your animal weights, complete the following procedure:
1. Select Enter New Weights from the Animal Management submenu of the Edit menu
2. The following screen will appear
3. Select the appropriate Lot from the drop down Menu
4. Select the appropriate Pen from the drop down menu provided
5. Enter the New Average Weight for the Lot in the field provided
6. Indicate if you would like the animals weight changes tracked on a Dry Matter Conversion basis or a Average Daily Gain basis
7. Depress the OK button to apply the updated weight estimate
Depress the Cancel button to exit this screen with no changes to the animal weights, or the resulting factors
NOTE: Depressing the OK button without providing a New Average Weight will indicate to the computer that the animals weight is zero (0) pounds. This will skew the figures and calculations in the program that are based off of animal weights. To exit this screen without making any changes, depress the Cancel button.

How does the mark up and margin work together on the components screen in Feedlot Solutions?
FLS currently applies the mark-up on the Cost per ton only.
Example - The price of ingredients uses weighted average.
If you have 100 tons of corn at $100/ton and I feed for 50 tons in 5 days then the price is $100/ton fed or $500 total. In this example 50 tons remains. If after day 5 you buy in 50 more tons at $200/ton. Your new price is the average of 50 tons at $100 plus 50 tons at $200. This average price is $150/ton for 100 tons.
Why is the Ration
Listing and the Retail Ration Listing different?
The retail ration and ration list reports are different as the ration list shows feedyards costs while the retail ration only shows feedyard pricing.
Where is this large handling fee that is different for each ration entered at?
The handling fee is entered in the ration screen and not the component screen.
Could you provide a little more detail
on how rations and inventory work?
The rations are built from individual components and their dry matter percentage multiplied by their cost on a per ton basis.
Two component ration
Corn 50%
Silage 50%
Corn cost = $100/ton
Corn price = $120/ton
Silage cost = $50/ton
Silage cost = $60/ton
Therefore
1 ton of as fed ration has a cost of $75/ton and a price of $80/ton
Cattle Medical System Batch Networking -
Server Import Fails The Batch Networking process in
Cattle Medical System provides a utility to transfer treatment
information from the chute side computer. Follow the
alternative steps below if this process produces an error message.
This process will copy the whole database from the chute side
computer making them identical.
- Create a back up of the chute side database.
- Take this back up to the computer that has the professional
version.
- Restore from this back up.
How do you add another owner/or and additional ration line?
Finish the first line; use down arrow on key board to get the second line.
If you’re printing invoice copies and you get a warning saying: Invoice 1001 has been generated, would you like to reproduce Yes /Yes to all /No /Cancel
Select yes to all, if you’re sure you haven’t added totals to accts. Receivable already
Cattle Medical System order for import/export between Office and Chute side.
*Always begin at chuteside-even if there is no data/Helpful Hint: Create 2 new
Folders on your memory stick: one that says Chute, one saying Office
*Export out of chute into the chute folder created on memory stick, take memory stick to office and do the import (be sure to pick the Chute file off the folder on memory stick), then make changes on the office side if needed, Then go into file/batch networking/export into office folder on memory stick, then take memory stick to chute, continue doing import off the office folder.
If you purchase too many head of cattle, how can you fix this problem?
You have to sell the cattle out of the system exactly as you purchased them in(same date/etc). Do a wash. Then re-purchase them back into the system with the correct number of head.
What if I enter the incorrect amount of feed?
You can look at your feedlist and then go back into the feed screen and enter a negative amount of feed on that same day; then make sure the correct amount of feed it there.
If you get an error saying you need to register your program or trial period expired, complete the following steps: Please email (Jessica.grimes@feedlotsolutions.com) or call (888-520-7333) with your yard name (as you want it to appear on invoices), Program version number (ex. 2006.1.1.1245), *Make sure memory stick is out of computer, and the exact serial number given when you click on register (exactly as is including any dashes), then you can exit out of the register box, and we will create an owners file for you and email it back to you with instructions on where you can save it.
Important*Please do backups regularly on your programs
Good idea to do them before invoicing on Feedlot Solutions
What if you make a huge mistake on a lot?
You can either restore a backup, or sell all the cattle out of the lot, rename that lot to delete; then go into tools/options/database and remove the inactive lot, then you can start that lot from scratch.
How do I enter a new Grain Bank customer?
Go into components screen, highlight the component you’re working with, go under edit and purchase. Then select the customer (not supplier), type in a reference, select the date the component was brought in, then at the bottom you can enter the amount of tons and either type in a total price or price per ton and it will figure out the other price for you. Also, the second box that appears, asks if you want to do quantity or value (always use quantity), and it asks for initial balance (if the client is brand new, the balance will be zero, if they already have a balance with you, this will get added to the amount you just entered)
*Please know that once you enter this price per ton for this component it will average the costs of this component together-if you want it at a certain price, you may modify the price once you’re done entering your grain bank client.
What does missed day mean?
Missed day is a feature that is in the system to remind you that you skipped a day feeding. You will want to go in and make changes to this to the accurate ration.
What do I do if I have an old version of the program in my system when I receive an upgrade disc?
If you are on a later version than the immediate prior one, please contact us ASAP. There are steps we must complete to assure your data is all transferred over. (ex. 2006 upgrade is received and you are still running 2004-send us your data!!!)
How do I add medicated feed or any other miscellaneous item?
You can add unlimited items under setup and apply those to categories for the lot or pen you are working with and it will add the charges under that specific category.
